Antioxidants - Protect the melanin

What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are molecules that protects the skin from free radicals that can cause further damage. Free radicals are unstable molecules due to their uneven ratios of protons and electrons.

When a molecule splits and it’s left with an unpaired electron, the molecule then becomes unstable. An unstable molecule will try to balance itself by taking it from another molecule(atom)  in your skin. This creates a repetitive ripple effect, which damages the cells.

Antioxidants provide the missing piece of the molecule to stop the ripple effect of electron stealing from other molecules.

By keeping the molecules stabilized with antioxidants this will protect the skin from oxidative stress and will help skin cells heal and regenerate faster.

Antioxidants helps rid of hyperpigmentation

A commonly known antioxidant, Vitamin C, inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase which is responsible for melanin production. By inhibiting tyrosinase, vitamin C stabilizes melanin production to even the skin tone, reducing dark spots and hyperpigmentation for a balanced and bright complexion.

 Antioxidants helps control acne

Free radicals also contribute to acne causing inflammation which can clog your pores.
